The joy of singing
The Soprano from Rahul Singh on Vimeo.
Non-singers often can't imagine the dedication and hard work it takes to make a career as a singer. Singers give so much, so the least we can do is appreciate what they do. Here is Sarah Minns, a young singer I've got a lot of respect for. You''ll hear her in the chorus in Carmen at Opera Holland Park next month. In the past you may remember her from the Royal Academy of Music productions, and in the chorus at the First Night of the Proms (Ivan the Terrible). She's also in the chorus in Richard Hickox's recording of RVW's The Poisoned Kiss. Opera Now has said of her "Sarah Minns as Dido conveyed her gravitas and depth of her reined-in passion most effectively... What we heard was not mere elegiac beauty but heartfelt grief". Here she is, enjoying last week's sunshine.
