Eclectic recital this Friday (6/7) - East meets West with LSO String Ensemble at Jerwood Hall, St Lukes. Raymond Yiu's And Nights Bright Days (2017) with LSO's Principal Flute Gareth Davies, the dedicatee. "Inspired by the dreamlike poetry of Tang Xianzu, the piece shifts and transforms as it unfolds, echoing the dreams it is built around." This will also be the premiere of Yiu's new work Butorflēoge. Read about his The World was Once All Miracle with Roderick Williams and Sir Andrew Davis and the BBCSO HERE and about his Symphony with Sakari Oramo at the BBC Proms 2015 HERE. Yiu is an interesting and inventive composer - this should be good. Also on this eclectic programme, Haydn Cello Concerto no 1 (first movement) with Li Wei Qin, and Xiaogang ye's Poem of China, framed by Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings (first and fourth Movements). Lee Reynolds conducts. The concert starts at 8pm (when it will be cooler) with time after to party.
